Funding for successfully completed projects has varied from simple internal financing to funding by international donors, such as USAID, and global banking institutions like the World Bank and KfW.

In Botswana, the figures for 17 towns as audited by the Government of Botswana reveal a reduction in arrears from 84% to 16% during the period 1999 - 2003, and a 260% increase in the amounts billed (from 28 to 73 million Pula). A USAID-funded commercial improvement project recently completed in Middle Egypt has already resulted in an increase in revenues of close to 60% - in just the first 12 months after going live with EDAMS Billing & Customer Information).
