Consulting services are basically aimed towards improvement of Utility/ Municipality performance both in terms improving revenues, reducing operating costs,  maximising use of existing assets and infrastructure planning, especially in the area of water supply where Hydro-Comp has extensive expertise.
There are two basic studies carried out by Hydro-Comp, Demand Analysis and Infrastructure Master Plan, the latter limited to water supply and sewer networks.

Demand Analysis Study

Demand Analysis provides output for Conservation Planning and Infrastructure Planning with three main outputs, that of

  • A Commercial rehabilitation plan,
  • A Non-Revenue Water Audit (NRW) and
  • Design demands for Hydraulic Analysis purposes.

Demand Analysis is a management function and should be repeated on a monthly basis as new meter readings becomes available and as commercial rehabilitation takes place continuously using more accurate data.

Infrastructure Master Plan (water/ sewer)

Prior to proposing a Future Master Plan a Network Optimisation Study is carried out. The Hydro-Comp study for the optimisation of the existing network makes use of new generation network and demand management systems to effectively rezone and optimise the system in order to balance the pressure distribution and ensure proper flow conditions.

A correctly zoned and optimised network will automatically reduce existing leakage, minimise the likelihood of future leaks, make leakage control easier and prolong the effective lifespan of the network.
The Hydro-Comp approach encompasses traditional Master Plan deliverables but, in addition, includes the development of a Network Asset Management model and a Live Master Plan model, providing flexibility in capital deployment arising from unforeseen changes with time.
In addition, it utilises advanced demand and network analysis techniques enabled through the use of EDAMS Management Systems and builds up capacity in the Client’s department to continuously manage the investment program.
