Overview
The EDAMS Demand Management system provides an integrated environment for the planning, implementation and monitoring of conservation and infrastructure programs. The system acts as a bridge across the great divide that separates a Utility’s commercial and technical functions. It facilitates the merger of commercial and network data with design standards and town planning data, and provides the demand models forming the basis of interactive and dynamic conservation and master planning.

Real-time Demand Analysis
The system supports a generic interface that simplifies integration with customer information systems and GIS products and helps resolve data discrepancies and inconsistencies. Integration on this level ensures the use of live, current data, including consumption and bulk supply meter readings. This makes it possible to link actual consumption to discrete network elements so as to generate the design flows necessary for demand analysis, demand forecasts and monthly or real-time mass balancing.
Conservation Planning
EDAMS Demand Management addresses the most critical facets of conserva-tion planning – such as zonal system audits, non-revenue water, loss management, cost analysis and system-wide pressure management.
Infrastructure Planning
The system assists in the translation of conservation measures and targets into practical remedial programs, network optimization and rehabilitation plans as well as operational guidelines for energy and emergency management. It ensures that these plans are at all times updated with the most recent changes in demand patterns.
Sustainable Management
The system – as both a planning and management tool – enables the Utility to effectively plan, execute and monitor conservation measures, and at the same time ensures sustained savings in capital cost and operating expenses.

Summary of Main Features
Demand Management Data Model
Commercial data – customers, connections, meters and meter readings
Technical data – network components, bulk meter readings, flow & pressure
Reference data – town planning, tariff structures, design standards, climate
Commercial Data Analysis
Evaluates & validates commercial data and reconciles with field surveys
Identifies inconsistent data & consumption categories, invalid meter readings/meters
Identifies illegal/unrecorded connections
Technical Data Analysis
Analyses network data topology, reconciles field surveys, corrects bulk readings
Automatically defines demand zones by linking with town planning
Automatically defines network zones, identify head & mass-balancing zones
Demand Analysis
Analyses supply/consumption, translates meter readings to continuous flows.
